Social Media Influence

Exploring deeper metrics for measuring social media influence.

Social media is always evolving, just like the PR landscape. In terms of changing the dynamics of influence and communication, social media has truly changed the game. This significant shift also puts pressure on organizations to use social media sites like Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Twitter in order to share useful information and remain relevant to the general public.

People now rely on social media to obtain current news, be informed about the weather, be entertained, watch sports, and other daily information needs. Everyone can look up content on social media that relates to how they are feeling and what they would like to do at that moment.

Why wait when social media can instantly cure all your issues with only a button click on your chosen social media site?

Influencer Marketing

One of the most popular strategies used by corporations and organizations to promote their goods and services to the public more quickly is the usage of social media influencers. Sponsored items are given to these influencers so that the audience may see how their favorite influencers are promoting the businesses. Many firms have seen a boost in sales as a because of this strategy, which has also raised brand awareness among those who were previously unaware of the company or brand. This young woman describes how she got started as a wig influencer.

Direct engagement

Two-way communication between the information provider and the person who receives it has now been made possible via social media. Today, not only can organizations find out what the public thinks of the content they provide, but the public can also instantly voice their ideas through feedback. This part of direct communication makes sure that the company keeps its good name by reacting to situations quickly and effectively.

The impact on consumer behavior

Managing social media impact may be a game-changer for businesses. Research indicates that customers are more likely to believe recommendations from influencers they want to follow than commercials. A recent incident on Twitter featured a woman named Ntandokazi who was observed being respectful to her partner. At the time this video was shot, a Luella bag was present with a red bull which encouraged many women in South Africa to want the bag and get themselves a red bull in hopes of becoming respectful as well. During that week there was an increase of sales of the Luella bag leading to the lady receiving free gifts from Foschini and Red bull SA.

Many people today are inspired to accomplish particular things because they witness their influencers doing them. This also allows them to choose the type of content they would like to engage to it can be for educational purpose, entertainment etc. If you interested in beauty content in South Africa following the likes of Mihlali Ndamase and Kefilwe Mabote could be of use.

Some of the initiatives introduced by social media.

  •  Vlogging
  • Live videos
  • Trending dance challenges
  • Business plugs
  • WhatsApp business
  • Campaigns
The public can now produce their own content through blogs, vlogs, and other forms of social media thanks to a concept known as citizen journalism. With this approach, fresh ideas can be exchanged, and anybody can leave comments on other people's work, discussing either positive or bad aspects of what has been shared.

THE BUZZ!!

One of the fastest-growing social media platforms, Tik Tok offers a wide variety of content to meet your interests in music and visual media. All users can create content; it is primarily used for creative activities and entertainment, but I have also discovered that some are using it to promote their businesses. A prime example would be the PRIME energy drink, which gained a lot of popularity on Tik Tok because of the huge YouTube and Tik Tok followings of KSI and Logan Paul.

As social media continues to evolve so does the influence towards businesses. In the digital age, it is crucial for organizations to understand the complex nature of social media while integrating it into their business processes and articulating their marketing goals.

    1. Yes, since it shares information to a large audience at a short period of time. So, sharing of news on social media is very effective although people need to do research before assuming things because a lot of misinformation occurs.

    1. I wouldn’t say it is easy, but it is something that requires hard work and patience. You just don’t know when brands will want to work with you or even worse if the public like what you post.

  5. As much as social media has played the greatest role in our lives because we have easy access to communicate with each other or how we do things easy using social media, it has also negative impact in our lives, we spend much time on social media than the real world.
